BuildSimple: Construction Document Automation
On This Page
German intelligent document processing (IDP) platform specializing in construction industry workflows, BaFin-regulated compliance, and no-code document automation built on AWS.

Overview
BuildSimple is developed by ISR Information Products AG, a German IT company founded in 1993 with six locations across Germany and over 30 years of experience in digitizing and automating business processes. The platform runs on AWS infrastructure and targets construction industry document workflows and BaFin-regulated organizations, with no-code configuration as its primary differentiator for business users.
Named customers include Württembergische Versicherung, Siemens, HUK-Coburg, MTU, and the Sparkassen Group, demonstrating deployment across BaFin-regulated companies and large German industrial enterprises. Sören Gensler, Head of KO Processes and Technology at Württembergische Versicherung, stated: "Thanks to Buildsimple, we have been able to significantly increase the automation of our document processes and implement them across many of our business areas. The solution enables us to implement complex AI solutions quickly and easily in the highly regulated environment of an insurance company."
The company holds a 4.5/5 user rating on Capterra from verified users. BuildSimple describes itself as one of the fastest-growing IDP solutions in Germany; this claim appears in vendor materials and the UMT press release but has not been corroborated by third-party analyst data.
How BuildSimple processes documents
BuildSimple's processing pipeline covers automatic page separation, document classification, data extraction via image and text analysis, anonymization, handwritten annotation detection, and content and context analysis. The no-code configuration interface lets business users set up workflows without developer involvement, using industry-specific templates and validation rules for construction project documentation, compliance forms, and regulatory submissions.
In the UMT AG partnership architecture, BuildSimple owns Stage 1: ingestion, document analysis, categorization, and extraction. UMT's UMS Vision AI handles Stages 2 and 3: validation, comparison, enrichment, and handoff to customer systems. The d.velop integration follows the same upstream model, with BuildSimple's AI models embedded within d.velop's content services layer.
Markus Neumann, Team Leader IT, Digitization and Processes at an unnamed customer, described the practical outcome: "Thanks to customized AI models, we can extract relevant specialist data from invoice documents, for example, and transfer it efficiently to our invoice process. This saves time and resources. The flexible usage model also ensures scalability without any server maintenance or administration costs."
The platform is GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001 certified. The ISO 27001 certification covers confidentiality, integrity, and availability and was announced via the ISR product page; no audit date has been published, so independent verification against the BSI registry is recommended before treating this as current.
Partnership strategy and market positioning
BuildSimple's distribution model is hub-and-spoke: rather than direct enterprise sales, the platform embeds into established European platforms that already hold customer relationships in regulated industries. Two partnerships define this approach.
The d.velop AG partnership, announced in February 2025, brings together one of Europe's largest content services platforms and its 400+ international partner network with BuildSimple's AI extraction models. The integration is bilateral: d.velop embeds BuildSimple's AI models, and BuildSimple lists d.velop products in its own marketplace. Pre-trained models for insurance claims processing were available at launch, validated by existing BuildSimple customers including HUK-Coburg, VHV Versicherungen, and MünchenerHyp.
Hendrik Fundermann, COO Financial and Professional Services at d.velop, explained the regulatory driver: "In view of the growing regulatory pressure, particularly through DORA [Digital Operational Resilience Act], we see great need for intelligent solutions that meet the highest security and data protection requirements. With BuildSimple, we have found an ideal partner for this."
René Weseler, Senior Executive Manager at BuildSimple, framed the strategic logic: "With d.velop we have found a strong partner who already has great expertise in the field of document logistics. We will offer our customers and partners seamless integration of BuildSimple into the d.velop ecosystem and significantly expand the service offering on both sides."
This approach is capital-efficient for a SaaS product developed within a mid-sized IT consultancy. The risk is commoditization at the extraction layer if larger partners build equivalent capabilities in-house, a dynamic that distinguishes BuildSimple from vendors like ABBYY, which pursues direct enterprise sales with its own go-to-market motion.
Use cases
Construction document processing
BuildSimple's original vertical covers construction industry workflows: project documentation, compliance forms, and regulatory submissions. Industry-specific templates and validation rules handle the full document lifecycle from capture through archival.
Financial services and insurance
The d.velop partnership prioritizes insurance claims processing as the launch use case, backed by named deployments at Württembergische Versicherung, HUK-Coburg, VHV Versicherungen, and MünchenerHyp. BuildSimple's existing BaFin compliance track record makes insurance and finance the most credible growth path. Both the d.velop and UMT deals name these verticals explicitly as initial targets, with broader financial sector automation planned as near-term expansion.
DORA compliance requirements are accelerating demand in this segment. Financial services organizations subject to DORA need operational resilience documentation and audit trails that BuildSimple's ISO 27001 certification and BaFin deployment history directly address.
Embedded IDP component
Through both the UMT and d.velop partnerships, BuildSimple serves as the upstream data extraction module within larger AI automation and content services platforms. Named target sectors across the two partnerships span insurance, finance, logistics, healthcare, and industrial verticals in Germany and Europe.
