ScaleHub — German IDP with Crowd-Verified Accuracy
On This Page
German intelligent document processing (IDP) provider combining GenAI with 2.3 million crowd workers for accuracy above 99% through anonymous document snippeting and human verification.

Overview
ScaleHub AG, based in Norderstedt, Germany, runs the only crowd-orchestrated IDP platform in the market. The company processes documents through a hybrid model: GenAI handles initial classification and extraction, then data is broken into anonymous snippets and routed to crowd workers for validation before being returned in client-specified formats. With an estimated $7M revenue and roughly 40 employees, ScaleHub targets BPO providers and shared service centers in regulated industries where a single extraction error can trigger compliance exposure.
The platform's Elastic Crowd Balancer orchestrates 15,000 active workers drawn from a 2.3 million-person contributor pool across 160 languages, with 24/7 availability. Deployment runs days to two weeks, compared to the 8-20 week timelines common among traditional IDP implementations.
In February 2026, ScaleHub replaced its founding CEO with an enterprise-sales veteran, signaling a shift from product-led growth to international scale. Mike Riegel, formerly CEO of Scout APM and a 25-year veteran of IBM and Cisco, took the helm on February 6. Co-founder Olaf Malchow moved to an Advisory Board role after seven years leading the company. Investor DN Capital publicly backed the hire with explicit reference to U.S. market acceleration, alongside the EU, Australia, and Middle East as named expansion targets.
How ScaleHub processes documents
ScaleHub's pipeline enforces human verification at the points where AI accuracy degrades most: handwritten text, degraded scans, and mobile-captured images with poor quality. The sequence is fixed: documents upload to a secure portal, AI and OCR handle classification and initial extraction, then data is anonymized into context-separated snippets and distributed to crowd workers for validation. Each snippet is checked independently by two workers; disagreements escalate to an experienced third worker for resolution. The validated output returns to the client in their specified format, JSON, PDF, or otherwise, and source files are permanently deleted within one to two weeks.
As CRO Torsten Malchow puts it: "With 2.3M global workers and support in 150 languages, the potential scale is infinite. No BPO in the world is able to bring such scale to the table, and our concept is backed by a super secure and reliable native cloud-based portal."
The anonymization is structural, not contractual. No single worker ever sees a complete document, which means data exposure risk is eliminated by architecture rather than policy. Malchow notes that this approach resonates directly with security-conscious buyers: "We often hear from Chief Data Security Officers that our solution is more secure than what a bank, insurance provider, or BPO is doing inhouse — a very strong argument." This architecture underpins the platform's GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001 compliance.
Volume scales without pre-provisioned infrastructure. The crowd-balancing model means throughput can move from 50,000 to 500,000 form fields overnight, a meaningful operational difference for document-heavy enterprises managing seasonal or campaign-driven peaks.
Use cases
BPO and shared services
ScaleHub's primary market is BPO providers and shared service centers that need guaranteed accuracy SLAs on variable document volumes. Ratiodata, a partner since 2016, uses the platform to meet contractual SLA guarantees, a use case where AI-only extraction carries too much residual risk. Deutsche Post deploys ScaleHub as a strategic BPO extension: VP Ferdinand Kühner describes it as enabling "cost-efficient growth of BPO-related activities" through a "fully scalable digital delivery chain."
Tropper Data Service AG, a German BPO with over 300 employees across five locations specializing in banking and insurance, has been a long-standing ScaleHub customer. Dirk Wilbertz, CEO of Tropper, confirms: "ScaleHub has been a trusted partner of Tropper for many years. Their team is uniquely positioned in Germany; they know from their own experience the ins and outs of our specific market requirements."
The Tropper partnership illustrates ScaleHub's channel strategy: positioning as a backend accuracy layer for established BPOs rather than competing directly with larger IDP platforms for enterprise accounts.
High-volume HR document processing
The most detailed public case study involves Concorde Inc., a BPO client processing HR documents at scale. Concorde handles 80,000 to 100,000 documents annually across 13 form types with five variations each, including Social Security numbers, background checks, HIPAA-regulated information, and driver's licenses. Many documents arrive as poor-quality scans or mobile uploads.
Before ScaleHub, processing took five months. After deployment, the same volume completed in three weeks. Luimbe Domingos, CTO of Concorde Inc., identified accuracy as the deciding factor: "Most important to us was accuracy, especially when you're talking about safety and compliance. We need to know the information we're getting out is accurate."
This case illustrates the trade-off ScaleHub makes deliberately: the hybrid model is slower than pure-AI extraction but delivers accuracy guarantees that compliance-heavy verticals require.
