Overview

TCG Process is a Switzerland-based automation company whose two products serve different buyer needs. DocProStar handles intelligent document processing (IDP) for structured extraction and validation workflows. OCTO provides a no-code process automation layer with 140+ pre-built activities that extends those capabilities into end-to-end business processes. Unlike pure-play IDP vendors such as Rossum or ABBYY, TCG Process bridges document extraction to workflow orchestration within a single vendor relationship.

The company operates direct offices in 12 countries, with UK operations established in April 2023 under Barry Richards as Managing Director. Its insurance vertical focus has sharpened through successive partnerships: DecisionRules for business rules in February 2024, LandingAI for agentic document extraction in October 2025, Risk Solved for commercial insurance risk data in November 2024, and ICE-Tech for live insurance platform integration confirmed in February 2026.

On March 31, 2026, TCG Process released OCTO 2026, the most significant platform update in the product's history. The release upgrades the core engine to .NET 8, adds containerized deployment across Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes, introduces PostgreSQL as an open-source database option, and ships an OCTO AI Assistant that generates functional workflows from natural-language descriptions.

TCG Process was absent from the ISG Buyers Guide for Intelligent Document Processing Platforms, which recognized Appian, Microsoft, Nanonets, and Rossum as leaders in its most recent cycle. That analyst visibility gap is the sharpest competitive context for a company making partnership moves that signal growth ambitions.

How TCG Process processes documents

DocProStar ingests documents from multiple channels including email attachments, classifies them by type using machine learning models, extracts structured fields such as policy numbers and damage assessments, and validates outputs before routing. OCTO then orchestrates the downstream workflow, connecting extracted data to business systems, decision engines, and approval queues through its 140+ pre-built activities.

Three integrations extend the platform's AI capabilities without building them in-house. The October 2025 LandingAI Agentic Document Extraction integration brings agentic document processing into OCTO workflows, adding accuracy and flexibility for complex unstructured inputs. The February 2024 DecisionRules partnership bridges the gap between extraction and business logic execution, a limitation many IDP-only vendors leave to customers. The March 2026 OCTO AI Assistant adds a generative layer: process builders describe a workflow in plain language and the platform generates a functional process automatically.

Patrick Ulrich, CTO of TCG Process, described the OCTO 2026 architecture as delivering "an even stronger, future-proof foundation for secure, scalable automation" through the move to .NET 8, improved containerization, and broader deployment flexibility. Neil Walker, Product Manager at TCG Process, framed the release as ending "the era of rigid, expensive automation infrastructure," giving IT leaders freedom to deploy on-premise, in the cloud, or in hybrid containerized environments.

Barry Richards, Managing Director UK and Ireland, describes the overall architecture as "purposely open, future proof and able to accommodate AI services that are relevant in meeting business objectives," framing the build-versus-buy approach as a deliberate product strategy rather than a gap in native capability.

Use cases

Insurance claims processing

UK motor insurer ERS expanded capacity for emailed first notification of loss (FNOL) claims ingestion by 75% using DocProStar for extraction and validation combined with third-party AI services, with reduced manual handling times. The platform captures incoming claims emails and attachments, classifies document types, extracts policy numbers and damage assessments, and routes through approval workflows with DecisionRules business logic applied at decision points. No baseline processing volume or timeframe has been published alongside the 75% figure.

Insurance policy and claims triage

In February 2026, TCG Process's AI triage technology went live inside ICE-Tech's insurance platform, automating ingestion, validation, and routing of unstructured inputs such as emails and attachments for joint customers' policy and claims teams. Auditability is preserved throughout the workflow. The integration targets the same FNOL and policy administration bottlenecks as the ERS deployment, but through an embedded partnership model rather than a direct implementation.

Commercial insurance risk data

In November 2024, TCG Process partnered with Risk Solved to integrate DocProStar with Risk Solved's risk data platform. The integration automatically processes and ingests legacy risk assessment data in multiple formats, consolidating multiple risk data sources into a single portal with property-level risk quality evaluation. Barry Richards cited the partnership as delivering "rapid, cost-effective integration of legacy data" with potential to save clients hundreds of working hours annually on legacy data processing. The partnership targets commercial insurance claims cost pressures and the shortage of experienced risk engineers.

No-code process automation

OCTO enables business users to build automation workflows without coding, using 140+ pre-built activities spanning document extraction via LandingAI, system integrations, decision management through DecisionRules, and workflow orchestration. The March 2026 OCTO AI Assistant extends this further: users describe a process in natural language and receive a generated workflow. The platform targets process owners who need to extend IDP outputs into broader business operations without developer dependency.
